Site 1: East Side Cycle Shop
Since I already showed interest in this building with my last post, I thought it would be a good site to look further into. After some time spent researching to find ANYTHING at all on this building, I have no answers. There aren't any reviews and there isn't any kind of history that I can find. The only thing that I found useful about this building was one website telling me that it was closed, but it was a relator site, I clicked on it with hope for something. So, I still don't know anything about the East Side Cycle Shop. I don't know if it's closed, nor do I know if it's abandoned. My only solution to get to the end of this is to creep past slowly one day (maybe multiple days) and see if I can see if there is life inside of this worn looking building.
Site 2: Art Smart's Dart Mart and Juggling Emporium
I had more luck finding information on this building. What initially grabbed my attention was that it's a juggling emporium...I didn't know this was necessary to have as a store. Maybe what I found odd about it was that it's on Brady Street? Whatever the case, it got my attention. What I found out about this shop is that it was opened on April Fool's Day in 1985, and has been called "Milwaukee's best store for summer", as well as, "a favorite Midwest find" by the Midwest Living magazine. What I think is great about this store now that I know more about it is that it's still around. After scrolling around on the google maps street view for awhile I realized that most of the storefronts that we see today were not there at the time the google maps car drove through, which was only three years ago. So, as odd as this store may seem, it has outlived plenty of others on Brady Street.
