Doors Open Milwaukee - Jeff Brennan

I thought it fitting to revisit the Milwaukee City hall. On our last meeting, the City Hall and I may have stepped off on the wrong foot.

With the "doors open," the City Hall was a much more interesting place. I learned about the style of architecture, the history of the building and got an inside look at the Common Council Chamber.

Apparently the bell tower was available for tour, though I missed out on that.

The important lesson is this: City Hall's doors are pretty much always open-- you just need to contact Roger Davidson. He can get you into the bell tower. Though, not the same day as you call. "He never does same day," said the woman at information when I returned to visit the bell tower.

The St. Joan of Arc Chapel on Marquette University Campus is quiet, quant and peculiar place.

The tour talked about the history. It's fascinating. Marquette is the building third permanent home. It started in France, then taken apart like Legos and moved to NY. It enjoyed a few decades there, then was donated to Marquette University and dismantled one last time.

It's odd. Being inside the building isn't like being in any other place in Milwaukee. It's a bit like time travel. And place travel. Inside the Joan of Arc Chapel, you may well feel like you're in France.
