Doors Open Travis Hale

The first place I visited was 2714 W Burnham St which is an American System Built House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

I have always been interested in architecture and wanted to tour one of his designs. There is so much thought and care put into the idea of moving through spaces and how space is experienced in his designs.

One thing I found so interesting is that in many of his designs (especially residential) the line of interior and exterior is purposely blurred. He wanted the structure to coincide with its environment. In the house, in the corners of room instead of having the walls meet he had windows meet so it seemed that the interior would continue into the outside world

Second, I visited the Villa Terrace Museum. First of all it was a beautiful place. Everything about it was pretty. They gave much information about the history of the building and the history of who was there. It is interesting to be able to know the past of a place and all the different experiences that are associated with such a specific location. We can now see the location but never live the experience.
