Pabst Mansion
History: In 1892, the Pabst Mansion, the finest Flemish Renaissance revival mansion in America, was constructed to be the lavish home of Captain Frederick Pabst. The Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion Inc continued the restoration of the mansion and the preservation of the Pabst Family legacy. This building was the only survivor of eighty homes that once lined Grand Avenue, it was designed by the noted Ferry & Class Architectural Firm in the Flemish Renaissance style. The exterior is dominated by two large stepped gables, a loggia, lions heads, and a serpent. The interiors showcase exquisite woodwork, stained glass, tile, fabrics, ironwork, and fine art.
I have always been very interested in this mansion. Never been inside but had seen photos of it. I'm obsessed with gold ornate decorative interiors so I'm very excited to tour the inside of it. Hopefully to get more inspiration and learn more about the history of it.
Pabst Theater
History: The Pabst Theater, was built in 1895 by brewing magnate Captain Frederick Pabst, and was designed by architect Otto Strack in the tradition of the great European opera houses. The theater was extensively renovated in 1928, then restored to its original style in 1976, making it one of the most beautiful theaters in the United States. With a full proscenium stage that includes a hydraulic orchestra pit, the theater is suitable for virtually all performing arts including theater, opera, dance, and music. The auditorium is drum shaped with two balconies, and stunningly decorated in reds and maroons with gold and silver accents. A magnificent crystal chandelier that weighs over two tons hangs over the auditorium.
Back in middle school, my dance was invited by the Pabst theater to perform one of our dances. Ever since then I've always wanted to go back to the theater and get a full tour of it. It is absolutely gorgeous full with red and decorated with gold leaf everywhere. I admire this place very much because I want my house to be influences by the Baroque interior that this theater has. I hope to get a full tour of the place and hopefully learn more about the design of it.
