I am very curious about the Third Ward. I just want to know how it came to be and why it was designed the way it was. Observing the architecture and how Broadway is the "cool" street to hang out and why it's SO expensive! I want to know everything!!!
Why is the Third Ward so different from the other wards and how that name possibly came to be? Why is it an art town and not a simple regular town? What was it before it became a busy sancturay?
I'm just very curios about the structure!
I found more information about the Historic Third Ward on their website. It was designed as a livable and exciting mix of people living in the Third Ward. It consists of over 20 galleries and art studios of artists and also has over 400 businesses. I also found on according to the website article " About the The Historic Third Ward" that in 2005 was when Thid Ward created Gallery Night attracting more than 5,000 people!
ReplyDeleteSadly there was a fire in 1982 according to the website and also the lady at the desk of Open Doors Milwaukee. The lady told me that there was a fire that happened in 1982 burning down all the businesses, especially at Art Asia where I decided to attend. For the building Art Asia, before it became an artifact store, it was a glass-work factory and a candy factory. I confirmed it online because I read that before there were buildings, the Third Ward was a swampy and flat area. Until it was dried up that the Irish immigrants moved in and created factories and warehouses. Across Art Asia today, there was an old fire house station, but burned down in the devastating fire that broke out.
In 2004, more high ends clothing stores were beginning to open for women, men, and children. Popular restaurants beginning their businesses as well.
